Monica Reyes, Grants Department
Discuss and consider execution of a Sub-Recipient Grant Award for the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) - FY13 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP).
The Department of Homeland Security under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers several grant opportunities under the umbrella of the Homeland Security Grant Program. One such opportunity is the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP). This core assistance program provides funds to build capabilities at the state and local levels and to implement the goals and objectives included in state homeland security strategies and initiatives dedicated towards law enforcement terrorism prevention-oriented planning, organization, training, exercise, and equipment activities, including those activities which support the development and operation of fusion centers.
The project’s title is the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Enhancement Project. The purpose is to connect the EOC with external antennas allowing for fixed base stations, to extend existing fiber connections with the City of Corpus Christi, integrate camera feeds and to provide electronic tools for information sharing for key EOC personnel. The project will also include the ability to exchange critical decision support with the local National Weather Service directly through peer to peer shareware and applications.
No cash match is required on this grant. The total grant award $25,196.
