RECOMMENDATION
Ratify the submission of a grant application to the Texas Department of Emergency Management for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) for FEMA-4245-DR and FEMA-4255-DR.
BACKGROUND
The President declared a major disaster for Texas as a result of damages incurred during the severe storms in October 2015 and winter storms and tornadoes in January 2016. The disasters were assigned the reference of FEMA-4245-DR and FEMA-4255-DR (respectively) and funding became available through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
DISCUSSION
The McKinzie Jail Annex currently has two emergency generators (250KW and 45KW). The generators provide for life safety functions as required by state law; however, they do not power all systems in the facility. On June 21, 2016, the County executed an Architectural Services Contract with Turner, Ramirez & Associates, Inc. for the replacement of the emergency generators at the Annex.

The grant application totaled $1,250,750. If awarded, the federal share would be $938,062.50 with a required match of $312,687.50. The application was due on July 22, 2016.
