Discuss and award IFB No. 3020-16 Nueces County Park Restroom Facility in Robstown.
BACKGROUND
Scope of work for the Base Bid consists of: the construction of a new restroom building, including, but not limited to the following: Site work includes stripping, excavation (30” depth) at building area for select fill placement (36”+ compacted), minor backfill slope at building surround, trenching for extension of existing capped utility lines in place in immediate vicinity to connect to new building, and extension of new concrete sidewalk to existing paved sidewalk as required by site plan for connection to new building. Also includes construction of new handicap parking spaces at existing parking lot and curb ramp connection to existing sidewalk. The new 22’-8” x 30’-8” restroom building will have a monolithic reinforced concrete slab-on-grade foundation, reinforced CMU walls with certain minimal upper framed/sheathed walls, insulated wood frame roof with composition shingle roofing, metal door and frames, painting, plumbing, and electrical systems. The major purpose of this project is to provide a new restroom building in existing City Park, and extension/connection of existing electrical service and plumbing (formerly to previous old restroom building). All work shall provide for access to persons with disabilities in accordance with requirements of the State Department of Licensing & Regulation and those of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It is noted that the site is in an existing city park. Take necessary precautions to protect the public from construction work operations and the worksite. Material excavated for the foundation work may be utilized as general back slope fill (topsoil) at building perimeter surround. It is intended that work of this project comply with State and Federal requirements providing for accessibility to persons with disabilities. Dimensions given for clearances, heights, etc., are critical and must be carefully maintained. Scope of work for the Additive Bid No. 1 consists of: the construction of handicapped parking and associated paving, including, but not limited to the following: INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS Page 2 of 11 Site work includes removal of approximately 49’-4” of existing concrete sidewalk and curb/gutter, removal of approximately 980 sq.ft. of existing asphalt paving; construct new approximately 6’-0” wide X 49’-4” long sidewalk with connecting curb/gutter and curb ramp. Construct new approximately 980 sq.ft. of asphalt paving with new painted striping, concrete wheel stops and signage. Construct new 6’-0” wide X approximately 111’-8” long concrete sidewalk connecting restroom building to sidewalk at handicapped parking.
DISCUSSION
Five bids were received. Project is to be paid from Commissioner Pct. 3 -2015 CO funds.
