RECOMMENDATION
Rescind the award for IFB No. 2913-12 Uniform Rentals, Floor Mats, Shop Towels, Linens, and Scrubs; Discuss and consider awarding to the next lowest bidder.
BACKGROUND
The Invitation For Bid (IFB) is to furnish rented uniforms for 219 employees in nine different departments, scrap rags, towels, mop heads, scrapers, floormats, aprons, sheets, and pillow cases. The contract is for an initial term period of twenty-four (24) months with the option to renew. Each renewal, if mutually acceptable to the Bidder/Contractor and Nueces County, will be in twelve (12) month increments, not to exceed three (3) additional years past the initial term. The contract shall begin upon Commissioners Court execution of contract documents.

On July 2, 2012 the Court awarded the service to Admiral Linen & Uniform. The company was notified of the award and was asked to provide original contract documents including an insurance certificate for the various insurance coverage requested in the IFB.

Admiral Linen & Uniform did not provide the Workers Compensation coverage as required. Instead they provided an Employers Indemnity Coverage.

LGC 262.027 allows for the Court to award the contract to the next bidder in order of ranking as lowest and best bid.
DISCUSSION
The cost is paid from the 2011/2012 department budgets that use the services.
