RECOMMENDATION
Discuss and consider acceptance of a grant award from the Governor's Criminal Justice Division for the Juvenile Justice Alternatives Program.
BACKGROUND
The Criminal Justice Division of the Governor’s Office solicited applications for projects that support juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. Eligible activities include diversion, job training, professional therapy/counseling, school-based delinquency prevention, and substance abuse.
DISCUSSION
On January 18, 2012, Commissioners Court approved the submission of a grant application for the Juvenile Justice Alternative Grant. The purpose of this program is to provide counseling for juvenile offenders and the family members of these offenders to help them improve communication, increase parental control and deal with problems in a positive approach.

The grant award is $55,000 with no required cash match.
