CBBEP Human Uses Pollinator Proposal
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Ratify authorizing submission of a project proposal to the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program (CBBEP) for consideration of grant funding for the Human Uses Implementation at Padre Balli Pollinator Habitat project.
The Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program (CBBEP) is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to researching, restoring and protecting the bays and estuaries of the Texas Coastal Bend. The mission of the CBBEP is the implementation of the Coastal Bend Bays Plan, which is to protect and restore the health and productivity of the bays and estuaries while supporting continued economic growth and public use of the bays. The plan identifies specific actions that will benefit the bay system and the users of the bays and includes projects for which CBBEP provides grant funding.
Nueces County would like to submit a proposal to CBBEP’s Human Uses Implementation Team, which assists CBBEP by providing oversight and guidance for ongoing habitat and living resources projects and related monitoring and research initiatives including recommending related projects to be considered for inclusion in the CBBEP’s annual work plans. The proposed Human Uses Implementation at Padre Balli Pollinator Habitat project will provide a quality recreational experience through the conservation and management of coastal natural resources and compatible public access. It will also provide for the changing recreational needs by optimizing use of partnerships and funding opportunities. This project proposal will be submitted to CBBEP for their consideration for grant funding in the amount of $28,610 and does not require a match from the County. If awarded, a grant agreement will be submitted for the Court’s approval and acceptance upon receipt.
