NCSO-Enterprise Rental Agreement
Cynthia Martinez, NCSO
Approve and enter into agreement with Enterprise on the rental of grant funded vehicles for the Nueces County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff’s Office receives a grant from HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area)to pay for the rental of two vehicles ($15,120 per year). These vehicles are used by two Sheriff's Office Deputies that are assigned to the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency). These deputies being assigned to the DEA is advantageous to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office in that it has resulted in the Sheriff’s Office receiving an average of $100,000 per year in forfeiture funds (average of last three years). These vehicles have been rented for over 12 years under this grant but have been rented/leased off an agreement from the HIDTA Houston Office. That agreement expired recently and we now need to enter into our own agreement for the rentals. Total rentals for two trucks is $20,400. The difference of $5280.00 per year for the vehicles is paid out of forfeiture funds (Dept. 1329). The discounted rates reflected in this current agreement will only be valid if entered into before May 31, 2018.
No County Funds are used to pay for the rentals under this agreement.
