FY18 Home Delivered Meals Resolution for City of CC
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Adopt a resolution in support of the City of Corpus Christi’s participation in the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texans Feeding Texans: Home Delivered Meal Grant Program.
In accordance with Texas Agriculture Code, §12.042, as enacted by House Bill 407, and House Bill 1, 80th Legislature, Regular Session 2007, the state legislature has appropriated funding to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for distribution, pursuant to the Texans Feeding Texans: Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program (HDMGP), to governmental agencies or qualifying non-profit organizations that deliver meals to homebound persons that are elderly and/or have a disability.
This grant program strives to award funds to supplement and extend existing services related directly to delivery of meals to Homebound Elderly persons and Homebound persons with a Disability, through the Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program; and establishes the requirements for related nutritional standards, recordkeeping and documentation related to the Program. The City of Corpus Christi is applying for the grant this year, which requires a resolution by the Commissioners Court. Since the law was written to have all counties approve resolutions for any of the providers throughout the County, the City of Corpus Christi Senior Community Services respectfully requests Commissioners Court’s approval to apply. The deadline for all application components is November 1, 2017.
