Commissioners Court - Regular
Application for Texas Commission on the Arts
Natalie Eckstrom, Grants Department
Ratify the submission of two grant applications to the Texas Commission on the Arts for their Arts Respond Performance Support Program.
The purpose of the Arts Respond Performance Support program through the Texas Commission on the Arts is to advance the creative economy of Texas by investing in arts activities. This program provides professional artist fees to schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations for hiring an artist from the TCA Touring Roster to do a performance. These applications are funded based on a percentage of contracted fees. For the County’s application amounts, funding would be provided at 50% of the total estimated costs for service.
On April 17, 2017, two grant applications were submitted on behalf of the Keach Family Library. The first application was for the Edge of Imagination Station, which is a stop motion animation lab designed for mobility. The library would like the Station to be one of their special guests during the summer reading program. The cost of the Station is estimated at $1,400 so a grant request was submitted in the amount of $700.
The second application was for the SRP Singing Zoologist, which would be yet another special guest performance during the summer reading program. The estimated cost is $850 so a grant application was submitted in the amount of $425.
