Authorize execution of an agreement with Aramark Correctional Services, LLC and Nueces County for food service at the Jail per RFP No. 3017-16 Food Management Program at Nueces County Jail and CSCD.
Specifications were prepared to receive proposals for complete food management programs at the Nueces County Jail Facilities (Jail) and Nueces County CSCD Residential Facility (CSCD). Nueces County reserves the right to award for food management program at the Jail or at the Jail and CSCD. A. The Jail Facilities are comprised of two jail locations: 1) Nueces County Jail (“Jail”) is located at 901 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. 2) Nueces County McKinzie Annex (“Annex”) is located at 745 North Padre Island Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas. Proposers are to provide all labor, supplies, foods, and equipment required to prepare and feed approximately one thousand two hundred twelve (1,212) inmates, three (3) times a day; and approximately seventy five (75) jail staff, one (1) meal a day; three hundred sixty five (365) days a year. All food and services shall be prepared and performed on-site at the Waco Street Jail and trucked to McKinzie Annex, approximately 7.2 miles away. All foods used to prepare meals shall meet USDA guidelines. The County is in the process of having two (2) - 72-bed dormitories as direct supervision units, designed at the McKinzie Annex. The construction is anticipated to start at end of 2016 and/or beginning of 2017. One of the 72-bed dormitories is projected to be open at the end of 2016. At the time that the dormitories are open, the contract may be amended to include the dormitory population in the food services. All foods used to prepare meals shall meet USDA guidelines. The term of the contracts are for three (3) years with two (2) options to extend for one (1) year each, not to exceed two (2) additional years past the initial terms. The contracts may be terminated by either party for any reason by giving sixty (60) day written notice of intent to terminate. The contracts shall begin upon Commissioners Court approval of contract documents for the Jail. The contracts may be terminated at any time at the option of the County, or the Proposer. Such notice of termination shall be in writing and shall be effective on a date mutually agreed upon, but in no event more than sixty (60) days from date of written notice.
The contract is for Jail food service only. CSCD has a separate contract. Regular budgeted item in Department 3720 budget.
