RECOMMENDATION
Ratify the submission of a grant application to the Tocker Foundation for the Bishop Branch Library Expansion & Improvements project.
BACKGROUND
The Tocker Foundation began in 1964 to implement the philanthropic interests of Phillip and Olive Tocker. After years of supporting a wide range of community-based causes, the foundation discovered a need in small, rural, Texas libraries serving populations of 12,000 or less. In 1992 the foundation board then began focusing their grant distribution in this way. The foundation partners with community libraries to meet the particular needs of the community.
DISCUSSION
On January 22, 2016, the Grants Administration Department submitted a grant application to the Tocker Foundation for the Bishop Branch Library Expansion & Improvements project. The application requests furniture and shelving in an effort to provide a more welcoming environment and to accommodate the new expanded area of the library.

The grant application requested funding in the amount of $10,170.46 and there is no match required. A funding decision is expected in late March 2016.
