Data & Voice Resiliency eGrant Award
Submitted By: Natalie Eckstrom, Grants Department
Department: Grants Department

Discuss and consider acceptance of a grant award from the Governor’s Homeland Security Grants Division for funding for the Nueces County Data and Voice Resiliency Project.
The Governor’s Homeland Security Grants Division (HSGD) provides funds to build capabilities at the state and local levels and to implement the goals and objectives included in state homeland security strategies and initiatives dedicated towards law enforcement terrorism prevention-oriented planning, organization, training, exercise, and equipment activities, including those activities which support the development and operation of fusion centers.
Earlier this year, the Nueces County Emergency Management Department submitted a proposal to the HSGD for the Data and Voice Resiliency Project. The project aims to provide a roof mounted antenna directly into the Emergency Operations Center; provide for a mobile unit that can be deployed onto the roof if the permanent antenna is damaged and also to incident sites; provide field support to transmit critical incident information, and directly support the efforts of the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Regional Response Team.

The total grant award is $64,500 with no cash match required.
