Designation of Web Accessibility Coordinator

Discuss and consider appointment of the Assistant Director of Information Technology to serve as the Web Accessibility Coordinator, and the Director of Information Technology to serve as such when that position is vacant or the Assistant Director of Information Technology is otherwise unable to serve.
In accordance with the settlement with the Department of Justice, a Web Accessibility Coordinator must be appointed to manage and oversee website services for compliance with the WCAG 2.0 Level A and Level B  guidelines.
Nueces County is to appoint a Web Accessibility Coordinator to comply with the settlement agreement in regard to ADA requirements. The Web Accessibility Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing all web pages and content to insure compliance with the WCAG 2.0 standards as outlined by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The Web Accessibility Coordinator will coordinate and train county departments in how to develop and manage content, review and access new content, conduct annual reviews, and develop policies and procedures to insure that all web services meet ADA requirements.
