Commissioners Court - Regular
Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Ratify the execution of a grant agreement accepting an award from the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program.
In accordance with Texas Agriculture Code, §12.042, as enacted by House Bill 407, and House Bill 1, 80th Legislature, Regular Session 2007, the state legislature has appropriated funding to the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for distribution, pursuant to the Texans Feeding Texans: Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program (HDMGP), to governmental agencies or qualifying non-profit organizations that deliver meals to homebound persons that are elderly and/or have a disability.
This grant program strives to award funds to supplement and extend existing services related directly to delivery of meals to Homebound Elderly persons and Homebound persons with a Disability, through the Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program; and establishes the requirements for related nutritional standards, recordkeeping and documentation related to the Program.
On August 20, 2014, Commissioners Court approved the submission of a grant application and execution of a resolution for the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texans Feeding Texans: Home Delivered Meal Grant Program.
The Texas Department of Agriculture informed Nueces County of its conditional approval of our grant application. Acceptance of this grant was conditional upon the County’s completion and return of the grant agreement in a short time frame so therefore, we are requesting that the Court ratify the County Judge’s signature on this agreement.
The grant award totals $20,446.49 and there is no cash match required for this grant. The grant period is effective from February 1, 2015 through January 31, 2016.
