Texas Homeland Security Grant Adjustment Notice
Submitted By: Natalie Eckstrom, Grants Department
Department: Grants Department

Discuss and consider the acceptance of a Grant Adjustment Notice from the Texas Homeland Security State Administrative Agency for FY2014 Local Border Security Program.
The Local Border Security Program FY2014 (LBSP-14) is funded to provide additional manpower by local law enforcement agencies for state led border security enhanced operations for improved border security. The Texas Homeland Security State Administrative Agency provides grants to local law enforcement agencies for payment of overtime and operational costs for local law enforcement officers (commissioned peace officers).
On February 26, 2014, the Commissioners Court executed a Recipient Grant Award for this program. The grant application was prepared and submitted on behalf of Constable Precinct 5. The purpose of the project is to increase patrols and improve coordination among law enforcement agencies.

The total grant award is $15,000 and will cover overtime and mileage for project activities. There is no match required for this program.

The original grant period was from February 12, 2014 to August 31, 2014. However, due to delays in processing the original grant award, more time was requested in order to expend all the funds. The Grant Adjustment Notice extends the end date for the grant to February 28, 2015.

There is no fiscal impact related to this item. The grant amount of $15,000 remains the same.
