Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Discretionary-Drug Court Program

Discuss and consider rescinding a resolution executed on February 26, 2014, regarding the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Discretionary - Drug Court Program – Grant No. 2801801; and adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of grant application to the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division for the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Discretionary - Drug Court Program – Grant No. 2801801.
The Criminal Justice Division of the Governor’s Office is soliciting applications for projects that support juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. Eligible activities include diversion, professional therapy/counseling, school-based delinquency prevention.
The purpose of the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) is to reduce juvenile offending through accountability based programs focused on the juvenile justice system. Funding for this program is to provide support for juvenile drug court services and drug treatment services in the juvenile justice system.
On February 26, 2014, Nueces County Commissioners Court executed the resolution for this grant submission; however the granting agency would like the match commitment to be stated in the resolution. The following statement was added to the resolution:
“WHEREAS, said Grant application 2801801 will include a 10% required cash match funded from special revenue – local funds.”
The grant application request is $35,000.00 with a required local match of 10%. The local match will be supported through Juvenile Probation Department special revenue funds -Title IVE department #1317 in the amount of $3,888.88.
