Discuss and consider Amendment No. 2 to the Employee Health Benefit Plan as proposed by HealthSmart Benefit Solutions, Inc.
At the time of the transition effective October 1, 2012 from the prior Third Party Administrator, HealthSmart understood the MRI benefit incorrectly. This was initially noted to HealthSmart, but somehow neither the automated claims system or Plan Document was updated. The explanation of benefits distributed to employees during the annual open enrollment correctly described the MRI benefit. This amendment will correct the error in the Plan Document, and enable the correction in their claim system. The approximate claims cost of this action is $29,000.00. There will be no additional cost to the County. HealthSmart has agreed to waive cost of reprocessing claims or of processing the amendment.
Effective October 1, 2012, the Plan Document is amended as follows:
1. Section II - Benefit Schedules, delete current pages 8, 15 and replace with new pages 8, 15.
