Amendment #6 to Disaster Recovery Grant/PJ's Marina Project
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Discuss and consider execution of Amendment No. 6 to the Disaster Recovery Non-Entitlement Grant Contract with the Texas General Land Office No. 10-5122-000-5103.
On January 6, 2010, Nueces County executed a contract with the Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA) for the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG) Disaster Recovery Program. Effective July 1, 2011, the CDBG Disaster Recovery Programs have transferred to the Texas General Land Office. The project is titled the Storm Water and Erosion Control Bulkheading Project at PJ’s Marina.
As a result of Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008, the County’s marina suffered severe erosion caused by storm surge that overwhelmed the existing bulkhead and caused the marina to fail to function. The adjacent highway posted a danger due to standing water on the road and impeded emergency vehicle access. The project was designed for bulkhead replacement and provision of adequate drainage improvements to ensure the function of the roadway and provide barrier protection for the area.
The County requested and was granted a contract amendment (No. 6) to revise the following:
• The grant period extension for a new contract end date of December 31, 2015.
• The Implementation Schedule was revised to reflect more feasible dates, given the additional activities.
There is no fiscal impact related to this agenda item. The total project remains at $1,551,016 with no cash match required.
