Grant application for Texas Book Festival Technology Grant
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Discuss and consider submission of a grant application to the Texas Book Festival for the 2014 Technology Grant.
The Texas Book Festival was established in 1995 by Laura Bush. It is a nonprofit corporation that has donated more than $2.5 million to Texas libraries over the 18 years of its existence. The Texas Book Festival awards grants to support collection enhancement and to implement or continue innovative literacy and technology programs for our Texas public libraries. These grants greatly benefit the library and enable them to share the importance of literature with a wide variety of people in their community.
Technology Grants assist libraries in purchasing distance education equipment, upgrading internet connections, purchasing new or upgraded hardware and software for patrons’ use, or hiring IT consultants to assist in upgrading hardware, software, internet connections and security. This grant may also be used to provide training for patrons on specific software and to purchase or upgrade library check out systems.
Technology grants are funded up to $5,000 and there is no cash match required. The application is currently being developed and the deadline for submission is January 31, 2014.
