Commissioners Court - Regular
Grant application/Resolution for FY14 Solid Waste program
Monica Reyes, Grants Department
Discuss and consider adoption of a Resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Coastal Bend Council of Governments for the FY 2014 Solid Waste Program offered through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Each year, the Coastal Bend Council of Governments (CBCOG) receives grants through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) which authorizes CBCOG to redistribute solid waste fees to support local and regional solid waste projects consistent with the regional solid waste plan.
In the past, the Nueces County Commissioners Court has approved submission of grant applications to the Coastal Bend Council of Governments (CBCOG) for the Municipal Solid Waste Program grants for community clean-up events in Nueces County.
With the success of the community clean-up events in the past, consideration is currently being given to targeted clean-ups of community and illegal dumping sites, as well as technology and equipment upgrades for the Code Enforcement officers. There is no limit to how many projects a county submits. Applications are due on October 23, 2013.
The grant application will total $5,000 and there is no cash match required for this program. The grant will pay for contracted services for community cleanups.
