Discuss and consider execution of a vendor agreement with Green Mountain Energy for the purpose of making pledges and payments on a daily basis to the utility company for clients who are customers of vendors and who qualify for Nueces County emergency assistance via the Nueces County Human Services Department.
It is common practice that once a pledge is made by the Department of Human Services to a Vendor, the client’s account is protected from disconnection for a period of approximately 30 days. This allows time for checks to be issued from the Auditor's office.
The Nueces County Department of Human Services provides billing assistance service for families and individuals and Green Mountain Energy is a certified retail electric provider that is authorized to receive payments from this agency. A client is a customer of the vendor receiving bill payment assistance from this agency.
There is no fiscal impact other than the usual process of the actual financial assistance provided to a qualified client.
