RECOMMENDATION
Discuss and consider the submission of a grant application to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for the FY2014 Impact Grant Program.
BACKGROUND
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission has announced the new Impact Grants for Library Innovation and Improvement program. The purpose of the grant is to encourage libraries to create or expand their programming and services in innovative ways that directly impact the lives of Texans. The grant provides seed funding for new library programming or services, or to improve existing programming and services that support best practices in the field.

There are three focus areas identified and applications will be accepted in these areas: skills for economic recovery; family and early childhood literacy; and electronic information technology.
DISCUSSION
The Keach Family Library would like to apply under their funding category for electronic information technology. This focus area supports providing library services to enhance library patrons’ access to electronic information/materials.

The grant application will total $10,000 and there is no match required. Applications are due on February 27, 2013.
