Ratify the execution of the FY13 SAVNS Maintenance Grant Contract
Monica Reyes, Grants Department
Ratify execution of the FY2012-13 SAVNS Maintenance Grant Contract and R-09 Service Agreement Renewal Notice related to the Texas VINE Program.
The purpose of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service (SAVNS) grant program is to maintain Texas counties in a statewide system that will provide relevant offender release information, notification of relevant court settings or events, promote public safety and support the rights of crime victims.
Texas VINE is a free and anonymous telephone service that provides victims of crime, information and notification regarding offenders in the county jail.
The Texas VINE:
*Provides basic information on jailed suspects/offenders and their scheduled court events;
*Notifies registered users of changes in jail status and court events;
*Free service for crime victims and other concerned citizens;
*Information is available in English or Spanish 24 hours a day, 365 days a year;
*A live operator is also available 24 hours a day to assist callers.
To accomplish the public purpose, the OAG will reimburse Nueces County for certain expenses incurred in the implementation and operation of the Texas VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) program. The OAG’s reimbursement of $25,016 will cover the cost for Appriss to provide the services outlined in the SAVNS Maintenance Grant Contract between the OAG and Nueces County.
Therefore, the County must first execute the SAVNS Maintenance Grant Contract with OAG and then execute the R-09 Service Agreement Renewal Notice with Appriss.
