4. C. 1.
Commissioners Court - Regular
Amendment to Indigent Defense Grant
Maria Medrano, Grants Department
Discuss and consider acceptance of a grant amendment for the FY2012 Formula Grant Program of the Texas Indigent Defense Commission.
The mission of TIDC is to improve the delivery of indigent defense services through fiscal assistance, accountability and professional support to State, local judicial, county, and municipal officials. The purpose of the TIDC is to promote justice and fairness to all indigent persons accused of criminal conduct, including juvenile respondents, as provided by the laws and constitutions of the United States and Texas.
On January 18, 2012, the Commissioners Court accepted the FY2012 Formula Grant Award of the Texas Indigent Defense Commission in the amount of $150,155.
On July 6, 2012, the County was informed by the Texas Indigent Defense Commission that additional funds in the amount of $61,828 were added to the grant. TIDC increased the grant amount to allow implementation of the Equalization Policy, which ensures that TIDC is able to distribute the full amount of funds budgeted.
There is no cash match required for this grant. Total grant award is now increased to $211,983.
